When Record Monitoring Stops

What happens to a connected health system when your plan no longer includes monitoring, and what happens when it comes back.

Last reviewed 2026-10-19

Record monitoring is included on Personal and Family plans. If your plan changes to one that does not include it, or a patient profile becomes read-only, we stop checking that health system for new information.

Your connection is not broken

We do not disconnect you, and we do not throw away the permission you gave your health system. The connection stays in place and shows as Not watching.

That matters because reconnecting later would mean logging back into your patient portal and granting access all over again. You will not have to do that.

Nothing you already have is lost

Everything we have already brought in stays on the profile, stays readable, and still shapes the answers to your research questions. Stopping monitoring stops new information arriving. It does not remove old information.

What stops

  • The daily check for new results, medications and visit notes
  • Alerts when something new lands in your records

On Starter you can still press Sync now on one connected health system to bring in anything new by hand. On a read-only profile, Sync now is paused too.

When it comes back

Upgrading to a plan that includes monitoring starts it again, and if you move to Family, read-only profiles come back at the same time.

Syncing picks up from that moment. We do not go back and send the alerts you would have had while it was paused, so it is worth opening the profile and reading through what arrived.
